  I am Jack's North Carolina opinion  |  May 08, 2012  |

What we have today in North Carolina is a moment when the used to haves have flexed their atrophying muscles in order to reaffirm their stance on top of the mountain. But its a last gasp, a death rattle, to that old way of life when they were on top, and they didnt share that power with anyone else. The time will come when this law is overturned by the voters of the same state that today passed it. Because in the near future those who arent lead by fairy tales will rise up over the din of superstition and make their voices heard. Today was a setback, no doubt. But there is a sea change coming. There are still pockets of the old guard that are trying to protect their little dark corner of the world. But the light of progressive thought will shine on that dark corner some day. It certainly wont be tomorrow, but history has a way of evening things out. Think of the strides that have been made in just a couple of generations. We must all be patient. All North Carolina did today is write themselves into the ignominious history of the world.
